Datacenter, telecom and hardware in-house
Most managed service providers subcontract the parts of the job they can’t do themselves. We keep datacenter operations, telecommunications, and hardware procurement in-house, so all three are handled by the same team that looks after the rest of your IT.
The reason it matters is practical. When your internet circuit, your phone system, your servers, and your workstations are managed by four different vendors, an outage becomes an argument about whose fault it is. When they’re managed by one, it becomes a fix.
Security comes first
Plenty of IT support companies resell antivirus and call it security. We’re a cybersecurity company that also does IT support, and every environment we look after has the sensible basics built in from day one: encrypted data, people only reaching what their job needs, MFA, a segmented network that limits how far one problem can spread, activity logs, and backups we actually test.
For medical practices, these support HIPAA’s security requirements: good security habits, written down, as part of the practice’s wider compliance work. For accounting and tax firms, the FTC Safeguards Rule is built on the same idea. We keep the paperwork up to date as we go, so when someone asks how you protect your data, you can show them.
Our practices are aligned with well-known security frameworks such as NIST and CIS. We don’t hold certifications in them and don’t claim to. We use them because they’re a good way to do the job properly.
Eight specialist teams
IT problems rarely stay in one lane. A phone fault turns out to be the network, a slow server turns out to be the cabling, and the fix needs someone who has seen that exact problem before.
We run eight teams in-house:
| Team | What they own |
|---|---|
| IT Operations | Day-to-day support, patching, monitoring, the helpdesk your staff call |
| Cybersecurity & SOC | Threat detection and response, incident containment, security operations around the clock |
| Data Center Operations | Our virtualization platform, hosted servers, and the network hardware behind them |
| Telecom & VoIP Operations | Phone systems, SIP trunking, number porting, call quality |
| Software Engineering | Custom applications, integrations, automation between systems that don’t talk to each other |
| Low Voltage Operations | Structured cabling, server rooms, cameras, physical installation |
| IT Consulting | Technology strategy, compliance roadmaps, vendor selection |
| Client Success | Your standing point of contact, and the team that tells you when not to buy something |
Every team is based in Orange County, apart from Software Engineering, which also keeps a satellite office in Silicon Valley.
Where to find us
Our main office is at 1411 N Batavia St, Orange, CA 92867. Call us at (714) 450-9330, email hello@northbluenetworks.com, or find us on Google. See where we work across Orange County.
Other managed service providers escalate work to us that they can’t handle themselves, and we take that as the clearest sign the eight teams are worth it.
What we support
Named specifically, because “we support everything” tells you nothing:
- Desktop and server: Windows, macOS, Linux (RHEL and Debian families)
- Mobile: iOS and iPadOS, Android, managed tablets
- Specialist hardware: rugged handsets, label and receipt printers, IoT devices
- Cloud and identity: North Blue Cloud (our own platform), Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Google Workspace, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services
We support your line-of-business applications too, including acting as liaison with the software vendor, so you aren’t the one relaying messages between us and them.
Around 80% of issues are resolved without a site visit, because remote is faster. When something needs hands on hardware, we go on site anywhere in the US. To see what gets handled first, read how we prioritize support requests.
Who we work with
We specialize on purpose. Regulated industries have obligations that generalist providers tend to discover late:
- Healthcare: medical practices, dental offices, and specialty and behavioral health practices subject to HIPAA, running Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, and the imaging systems around them
- Accounting and tax preparation: CPA firms, bookkeepers, and tax preparers subject to GLBA and the FTC Safeguards Rule, running Drake, Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSeries, CCH Axcess, QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero
We also support finance, legal, education, retail, manufacturing, logistics, and government clients where the same security-first approach applies.
Technology partners
We hold partner status with Red Hat, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Duo Security, Grandstream Networks, Netgate pfSense, and PBXflex.
How we write our guides
We write our guides from the rules themselves. They link to the source at the FTC, HHS or IRS for the rules and numbers they cite, and we update a guide when the rule changes. They’re general information, not legal advice.
Start with a check-in
Every new relationship starts the same way: a free, no-obligation IT check-in to learn about you and your business’s technology goals and needs. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you. To see what happens after that first call, read how we work.
