Managed IT

Co-Managed IT for Practices and Firms With an In-House IT Person

Co-managed IT means your own IT person keeps the day-to-day work and the relationships, and our team adds what one person can't cover alone: monitoring around the clock, security, after-hours help, projects and a second pair of eyes. North Blue Networks offers it from our office in Orange, and it suits Orange County practices and firms big enough to keep someone in-house but too small for a full IT department.

What co-managed IT looks like

Your IT person stays the familiar face. They know your staff, your software and how the office likes things done, and that doesn't change. What changes is that they're no longer on their own: the alert in the middle of the night, the project that needs more hands and the week they're on vacation all have a team to go to, so they can spend their time on the work that needs someone in the building.

Who does what

Every office splits the work a little differently, and we write the split down before we start. Most end up close to this.

When it makes sense

It's a common setup once an office passes roughly 30 users, and it's often how a practice or firm gets through a change of IT staff without a gap.

If your IT person is leaving

A good fit

Your IT person is stretched, works part-time, or is the only one who knows how everything is set up. Or they're leaving, and you'd like a team in place before their last day.

Probably not a fit

If nobody in the office looks after IT, full managed IT is simpler, with one team owning all of it. And if you already have a full IT department, you may only need us for a project or a second opinion.

How it starts

A free IT check-in

A relaxed, no-obligation call to learn how your office works, who looks after IT today and where they'd like help.

Meet your IT person

We sit down with them, learn the setup from the person who knows it best, and hear what they'd hand over first.

Agree who does what, in writing

Admin accounts, after-hours calls, projects and documentation, all written down so nobody has to guess.

Monitoring and security in place

Most offices are fully set up within two to three weeks, with your IT person involved at every step.

Frequently asked questions

Will you replace our IT person?
No. The point is to back them up, not push them out. They keep the day-to-day work and the relationships with your staff, and we take the parts one person can't cover alone.
Who has admin access?
You decide. We agree in writing who holds which admin accounts, and everyone, your IT person and our team alike, signs in with their own login protected by multi-factor authentication (MFA), so nobody shares a password.
Who answers after hours?
Our own on-call staff, never an answering service. Your IT person gets their evenings and weekends back, and we tell them what happened while they were off.
How do HIPAA and the FTC Safeguards Rule work with two IT teams?
For a medical or dental practice, HIPAA calls for a business associate agreement with any outside IT company that can reach patient information. For a tax or CPA firm, the Safeguards Rule asks you to choose service providers that can protect client data and to keep an eye on them. With two teams, the sensible habit is writing down who looks after what, and we do that with you from the start. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you do this for accounting firms too?
Yes. Tax and CPA firms often have one person keeping the tax software and the network going. We back them up through tax season with after-hours cover, security and a second pair of hands when a deadline is close.
